About Us Sree Narayana Guru

Sree Narayana Guru was a saint, philosopher, and renowned social reformer from Kerala, India. Driven by a strong desire to break ancient superstitions and taboos that he believed were holding back society, the Guru underwent years of strict penance and meditation, ultimately attaining enlightenment. He paved the way for social reform and change. His influence was so great that he attracted some of the greatest thinkers, philosophers, and fellow social reformers of his time, including luminaries such as Mahatma Gandhi and Rabindranath Tagore, who were inspired by his ideals and teachings. Sree Narayana Guru and the impact of his reforms played a significant role in shaping the ideals of the people of Kerala. The Malayalees, who carried these precepts with them wherever they went, have spread the teachings of the Guru to various far-flung communities, where they continue to practice his philosophies in their adopted lands. Narayana Guru’s concept of One Religion (Eka Matam) emphasizes the idea that the search for happiness is the same for all people, at all times, in all ways, and everywhere, regardless of differences in caste, religion, ideology, language, or nation. This oneness is the essence of Narayana Guru's One Religion (Eka Matam).
